Kroger Personal Finance - Everything seemed fine, for a while...
Personalized card worked fine for years. Then as the expiration date approached (still over a month away), I found I was unable to log into the KPFPrepaid web site. After entering my user name and password and answering my security questions, it would just send me back to the login page with a message stating that "some of the values entered were incorrect". After several attempts, I noticed that the web address in the URL address bar included the words "card_not_activated" or something to that effect.
As it turns out, they begin the process of generating and sending you a renewed card up to 2-months before your old card expires. That's good. My bank does that too. The difference is that they deactivate your current card when that process starts! Not when you activate the new card! The result is that you go up to 2-months with no ability to check your balance, no ability to reload the card and probably no ability to use it for purchases (haven't tried the latter, but I wouldn't expect it to work).
The only upside is that I am able to withdraw money at an ATM, which, upon learning all of this, I immediately did - all of it.
I am currently in the process of researching other prepaid debit products.
Reason of review: Poor customer service.

In spite of commitment by the Debit Card supplier to the police to make me whole after answering a 10 page questionnaire, there commitment was overturned. Still pissed
